Banished has no skill trees. Is the game available for Mac or Linux? Banished is currently only for PC’s running Windows. However, I’d like to make Mac, Linux, and SteamOS versions in the future. Can I mod the game? A mod kit is is being worked on and will be released sometime after Banished goes on sale. The initial version of the game won’t have mod support. Our collection of city building strategy games like Banished has a large number of adventures that put you in control of your own village population. Banished is a more recent inclusion in the city building genre that also offers a potent mix of strategy. Players will control a small band of exiled.
There's a WINE-wrap to play Banished on Macs, but it's a bit 'meh' if you want to add mods to your game. Work is going on on the Mac port of the game, but it got a little bit delayed by the current beta that fixes flag/limit stuff for the base-game. Online shopping from a great selection at Video Games Store. Without Steam (easiest and recommended) - Just select the Banished standalone installer, and click next. Once installed, Play on Mac/Play on Linux window will ask you if you want to create a shortcut, select the Banished 32bits exe (ery important), click next, rename the shortcut if you want, click next, click 'I don't want.'

Important 27″ iMac workaround:
When having a 27″ iMac the game will crash on launch because it takes over the desktop resolution (which is high!) and then runs out of video memory. The workaround is to go to the regedit (rightclick wrapper –> show package content –> wineskin–> advanced –> tools –> regedit –> navigate to the hkey_curent_user/software/shining Rock Software LLC/Banished) and change the strings “VideoWidth” to “800” and “VideoHeight” to “600”. Then the game will launch and you will able to change resololution to the second highest resolution and play fine. However, everytime you close the game FIRST change back the resolution to 800×600 or 1024×768 or the game won’t launch again. Its a nasty workaround for 27″ iMacs but for now the only solution.

Update: Its seemed that the Wrapper worked fine on Nvidia but not on AMD Radeon and Intel Graphics Macs. Fixed that part now with the latest wrapper update of Banished! Works now on Intel Graphics, AMD Radeon and Nvidia! Enjoy!!
On request and just out for 2 days: Banished! Build a city with any layout you want with almost no restriction on when, what, and where you build. Keep the population happy and healthy by providing them with food and warm shelter. Watch the town grow as you assign 20 different jobs to build buildings, grow food, craft tools and clothing, and more! The game doesn’t work in Crossover yet so I made Wrapper for it. Crossover will stay primary on the site, but that doesn’t mean I won’t make any Wrappers now and then :). I won’t make for each game a new video anymore, only when some specific instructions are needed. Normally its just very basic: extract –> install game into wrapper –> set the start executable and play! If you don’t own the game yet, I strongly advise you to buy Banished on GOG.com which is DRM free. Check out the trailer below to get introduced to the game!
